Local Beaches for Chill Swimming This Summer

Summer is upon us…almost. The days are warmer and longer, Memorial Day is behind us, and graduation ceremonies are well underway. For many of us summer means beaches and swimming, but where to go?. If you are tired of pool swimming and don’t want to spend hours driving to Long Island, New Jersey, or New England, there are plenty of beaches on local lakes, rivers, and the Long Island sound worth checking out.

This compilation includes only sites open to the public with lifeguards. Most have entrance fees that are often considerably higher for nonresidents. Do check the websites before heading out for particulars. Also, please let us know if we left your favorite swimming hole off the list.
