Nadine Gordon-Taylor maintains a studio and the School of Intuitive Art in the town of Peekskill, New York, a small but significant artist’s community tolerant of and “birthing” diverse creative ideologies and talent. Born in NYC, Gordon-Taylor studied full time at the Art Student’s League while attending high school and college. There she studied with anatomist Robert Beverly Hale and painter Robert Brackman (among others). At Hunter College she earned a Bachelors of Arts degree concentrating in Printmaking and Art History and had the unique experience of studying with Robert Morris. She earned her MFA in Painting from Long Island University and her Doctorate of Art Education from Columbia University, Teachers College. She has taught publically and privately for thirty years at her studio, Scarsdale High School, the College of New Rochelle, and Westchester Community College. She has lectured and given workshops across the country. Before embarking on her journey of becoming an intuitive artist and working with universal and intuitive symbols, she focused on photorealist drawings and paintings of her shadow, integrating, embracing and honoring her dark side. Currently her images focus on animal symbolism . Beauty is important, but the layers of meaning that reveal themselves over time create visual narratives that take the viewer on an inner and outer journey.
