What is Jet anyways? Jet is a type of lignite, or coal. It is decayed wood that has undergone intense pressure and heat. Essentially, it’s fossilized wood. Jet has been used to make beads and other jewelry since the Neolithic period and was often used in the Victorian era as mourning jewelry. Black and silver is one of my favorite jewelry color combinations and I use it frequently.
