Karen Whitman grew up in the suburbs of New York City and visited “the city” nearly every weekend where she developed an appreciation and love for its architecture and its unique vitality. In 1991 she discovered the art colony of Woodstock, NY and moved there in 1994. She continues to go to New York City weekly to sketch, work on prints, visit galleries, and participate in exhibitions.Karen specializes in linoleum cuts (linoleum block prints), primarily of New York City, which she prints on both antique and modern presses. She has exhibited extensively throughout the country and has won numerous national awards, including Medals of Honor from Allied Artists of America, Audubon Artists (twice), The National Association of Women Artists and The Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club.
